Governor Lee Issued 43 Pardons Total
Obtaining a pardon is a difficult and complex process, but our experienced criminal attorney Ben Raybin has successfully obtained pardons for seven clients this past year. This is a significant achievement, especially considering how rare pardons are in Tennessee. Historically, less than 10% of applications are successful in receiving a pardon.
In December, Governor Lee issued a total of 43 pardons out of hundreds of requests. These pardons offer new hope and opportunities for our clients who have worked hard to turn their lives around. Ben Raybin and David Raybin are proud that our 7 pardoned clients can move forward in a new light.
Pardons are Difficult to Obtain in Tennessee
Pardons are not easily granted in Tennessee, and the eligibility criteria are strict. The governor has the sole authority to grant pardons, and the process is rigorous. However, with the right legal representation and a strong case, it is possible to increase your chances of receiving a pardon.
To be eligible for a pardon in Tennessee, individuals must meet certain requirements. These include:
- Completing their sentence and waiting an additional 5 years
- Paying all fines and restitution
- Demonstrating good conduct and rehabilitation
Our knowledgeable attorneys, Ben Raybin and David Raybin, thoroughly evaluate each client’s case to determine their eligibility and create a compelling argument in their favor.
The Effects of a Pardon
A pardon can have a profound impact on an individual’s life. Pardons of nonviolent offenses can even completely expunge a criminal record. Even if a pardon does not erase the conviction from their record, it does offer significant benefits. A pardon can restore certain rights, such as the right to vote, serve on a jury, and hold public office. Additionally, it provides individuals with a fresh start and the opportunity to move forward with their lives.
