I had a conversation with a potential client in Nashville this morning who said something that I hear all too often.
She said, “I thought I could handle this with the adjuster directly, but I realize I cannot.” She then went on to tell me about the difficulty and the stress she has felt from speaking with the insurance adjuster and how it is too much for her to handle right now.
When you are involved in an accident, the insurance company for the at-fault party will more than likely reach out to you.
They will want to know how you are doing and whether or not they can take a recorded statement from you. A lot of people are more than willing to give a recorded statement to the insurance adjuster. Mostly because they say to themselves that they were not at fault for the accident so what do they have to lose?
During the recorded statement, the adjuster will ask you questions regarding how the accident happened as well as what injuries, if any, you may have suffered. We always advise that it is best to not give the adjuster a recorded statement and consult with an attorney right away.
After an accident you may be in pain or your adrenaline may be pumping or you may just be angry. There are certain things that can be said in that recorded statement which could potentially be harmful to your personal injury case.
No Personal Injury Is Too Small for Hiring a Lawyer
I also find that potential clients think they have a “small” personal injury case so they do not need to get an attorney involved.
That could not be further from the truth. No case is too small for our firm and what we typically find is that these potential clients are undervaluing their personal injury case. There are certain elements of damages that can be revered that you did not even know could be recovered.
Our role as your attorney is to deal with the insurance company so you do not have to.
You were the one involved in an accident and you are the one who is suffering as a result of someone else’s negligence. You should not be the one having to worry about getting in touch with an insurance adjuster or obtaining copies of medical records and bills or worrying about a rental car.
Your only role should be getting to a doctor and getting back on your feet. Our job is to deal with the rest.
Consulting with an attorney does not have to be an intimidating process. We want to get to know you and we want you to get to know us. We want to make sure you understand what you can recover and we want you to feel comfortable with who you have on your side. Accidents happen when you are least expecting them and regardless of what else is going on in your life.
Let us take the burden off your shoulders of dealing with the insurance company and be your advocate. If you’ve been the victim of a car accident, please call us right away at 615-256-6666 or fill out our contact form and we’ll get back to you right away.
